Vocabulary
1) Hydrosphere- the system of all of the water in the world whether in bodies of water or in the atmosphere
2) Infiltration- the process by which surface water goes into the ground
3) Percolation- the process in which water slowly drains through a filter
4) Transpiration- the process where water is evaporated from the leaves of plants
5) Wetland- a place where the ground is saturated and there are marshes or swamps
6) Estuary- a place where salt water and fresh water mix to form a thriving spot for animals
7) ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle)- an underwater robot that is operated from a distance and is connected to its base of operations through a tether
8) Scuba- (self-contained breathing apparatus) people dive underwater for extended periods of time and need special scuba gear to do it
9) SONAR- a type of technology that uses sound to map the ocean floor
10) Submersible- a type of machinery that is meant to be used underwater
11) EPA- the Environmental Protection Agency is in charge of all of the environmental policies to protect the natural resources that we already have
